Kuwait Official Environmental Portal Beatona.net wins the e-Government Web Award for the category "Official Governmental & Public Authorities Websites" during the 3rd annual competition 2012 ( eGovernment Web Awards ) organized by the Arab Administrative Development Organization/Arab League http://www.arado.org.eg/en/ in collaboration with the PAN ARAB WEB AWARDS ACADEMY ( http://www.panarabwebawards.org/en/main.php). The award was received by Mr. Mohammad Al-Ahmad (Manager of the Environmental Monitoring Information System of Kuwait at the Environment Public Authority) during the Awards Ceremony held on the 21st September at the International Congress Centre at the Hotel Maritime in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt. The Award comes as an acknowledgment from the Arab Administrative Development Organization/Arab League in recognition to the excellent achievements of Kuwait Environment Public Authority (KEPA) in the management and dissemination of environmental data and information about the state of Kuwait. Geographic information system (GIS) technology plays an important role in the success of e-Governments. KEPA shares environmental data and information related to Kuwait with other governmental and non-governmental organizations and enterprises through eMISK (the Environmental Monitoring Information System of Kuwait) which facilitates the management of environmental data and information in the State of Kuwait. One of the main goals of eMISK at EPA is to establish the Kuwait's Official Environmental Portal Beatona.net which provides easy access to all environmental data and information in the State of Kuwait using state-of-the-art GIS technologies and applications.
